Wholesale Fragrances
Just a few sectors of the wholesale trade
conjure up images of travel, intrigue, love and beauty. Wholesale
fragrances is certainly one of these. Yet, there is a second
enticing feature to this industry. To put it quite simply,
there is profit to be made in offering wholesale fragrances
to discerning buyers.
While many of the leading importers and distributors of
wholesale fragrances are located in New York, Los Angeles
and San Francisco, there are numerous merchants in the wholesale
fragrances business in various cities and towns across the
United States and around the world. A certain segment of
these suppliers also produce their fragrances, maintaining
extensive laboratory facilities and raw material stocks in
order to fill the rising number of fragrance orders.
One of the basic distinctions any buyer and seller of wholesale
fragrances should understand is the difference between fragrance
oils and essential oils. As reputable suppliers will be happy
to explain, fragrance oils are made of synthetic material
and used for many very popular fragrances. Essential oils,
however, are all natural and are generally used for such
activities as aromatherapy. There are also different grades
of oil, including a manufacturer's grade used for soap, candles
and other purposes. The cosmetic grade is most often found
in body oils, lotions, fine incense etc. Oils are used in
various concentrations, depending on the requirements of
the finished product.
What kind of prices can you expect when purchasing from
a wholesale fragrances supplier? The numbers will certainly
be lower than those found in most retail shops. But make
sure you ask about the requirements for sales tax information
and business license registration. Many suppliers of wholesale
fragrances, especially those who produce their own items,
choose to work exclusively with retail shops and other professionals
who have established themselves as true wholesale buyers.
A few examples will give you some idea
of how low the prices can be on quality products using
wholesale fragrances. In addition to buying finished products
such as incense ($20 for 1,000 sticks) buyers can get fragrance
oils, often with no minimum, for just over $1 for ½ to
1 ounce. Kits that include fragrance oil sampler and other
accessories are sometimes available for $10 - $12. Bulk
fragrance oils can be purchased for similar low prices.
In the past 10 years, several small companies have established
satisfied clientele in the wholesale fragrances industry.
These companies often have 20 or fewer employees, yet often
produce some of the most sought-after fragrances on the
market. In addition to providing wholesale fragrances to
other producers, these smaller merchants sometimes focus
on a particular niche of the industry. They may sell to
candle makers or soap companies, with a concentration on
supplying a few select wholesale customers with only top
quality fragrances.
For those who have worked in the wholesale
fragrances business for many years, there is nothing
quite like finding and providing the finest fragrances,
oils and incense to long-time customers. (Perhaps the only
joy that might rival this, according to merchants, is satisfying
a new customer who will be with you for years.) Dozens
of pure oils and fragrance-based products await in the
world of wholesale fragrances. Now is a great time to start
enjoying these unique products.
